Tauste is a municipality in Spain, in the province of Zaragoza, in Aragon. On 1 January 2025 it had 6,838 inhabitants according to the INE municipal register (padrón), over an area of about 406.2 km².
With about 17 inhabitants per km², it is a sparsely populated area of countryside, small settlements and wide open spaces, like much of inland Spain. Of the 15 municipalities in the province of Zaragoza with at least 5,000 inhabitants, it is number 11 by population.
As the crow flies it lies about 37 km north-west of Zaragoza, the provincial capital. The nearest major city is Zaragoza, about 40 km away.
