Igualada is a municipality in Spain, in the province of Barcelona, in Catalonia. On 1 January 2025 it had 42,085 inhabitants according to the INE municipal register (padrón), over an area of about 7.3 km².
With about 5,765 inhabitants per km², it is one of the most densely populated areas in the country, part of a large metropolitan area. Of the 134 municipalities in the province of Barcelona with at least 5,000 inhabitants, it is number 25 by population.
As the crow flies it lies about 49 km north-west of Barcelona, the provincial capital. The nearest major city is Barcelona, about 50 km away.
