Güeñes, in the Basque Country, is part of the province of Biscay. The municipality covers about 42.5 km² and had 6,817 inhabitants on 1 January 2025.
With about 160 inhabitants per km², it combines a medium-sized town with residential districts, farmland and business areas. Of the 35 municipalities in the province of Biscay with at least 5,000 inhabitants, it is number 32 by population.
As the crow flies it lies about 11 km west of Bilbao, the provincial capital.
