Betanzos is a municipality in Spain, in the province of A Coruña, in Galicia. On 1 January 2025 it had 13,533 inhabitants according to the INE municipal register (padrón), over an area of about 24.1 km².
Density, at about 562 inhabitants per km², is that of a populous urban area, with residential districts, services and businesses. Of the 50 municipalities in the province of A Coruña with at least 5,000 inhabitants, it is number 16 by population.
As the crow flies it lies about 18 km south-east of A Coruña, the provincial capital. The nearest major city is A Coruña, about 20 km away.
